Softball Recap: Sandalwood Victorious

Sandalwood won the last time they faced Andrew Jackson and things went their way on Thursday too. Sandalwood walked away with a 10-6 win over Andrew Jackson. With that victory, the Saints brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Kelsie Salter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Annie Bascon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Heath, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Bascon wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sandalwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Sandalwood and bumps their season record up to 4-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing eight strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.4 in the others. As for Andrew Jackson, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandalwood will host ED White at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. ED White has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.63 runs per game on average), something Sandalwood will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Andrew Jackson, they will be playing at home against Wolfson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
