Basketball Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. Riverside Rangers

Irvin hasn't had much luck against Riverside recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Irvin Rockets will venture away from home to take on the Riverside Rangers at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Irvin is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Friday. They lost to Bowie at home by a 63-45 margin.

Meanwhile, Riverside fought the good fight in their overtime game against Ysleta on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. While the Rangers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 14-10 in the first quarter.

The match pitted two dominant forwards against one another in Marcus Jauregui and Azaiah Thompson. Thompson had a great game and dropped a double-double with 31 points and ten rebounds. Meanwhile, Jauregui did his best for the losing side, putting up 11 points.

Irvin's defeat dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Riverside, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Irvin suffered a grim 63-37 defeat to Riverside when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Irvin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
