Football Recap: Washougal Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Washougal had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Mountain View Thunder with a sharp 56-33 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-13.

Tripp Leifsen went supernova, throwing for 277 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground. Hunter Miller helped Leifsen out on the ground, rushing for 98 yards and one TD.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Deondrae Goodell, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Washougal's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Travis Lundberg was especially locked on to Mountain View's QB and sacked him twice. Lundberg has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last three times he's played.

Coming up, Washougal will head out to face off against Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for Mountain View, they are taking a road trip to challenge Battle Ground at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
