Irvine never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against the Segerstrom Jaguars by a score of 3-0. While the Vaqueros didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The result came thanks to Adam Valencia's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Irvine's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Featherston, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Featherston has posted since back in March of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Irvine and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Segerstrom, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Irvine will be playing in front of their home fans against Mission Viejo at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Segerstrom, they will take on Aliso Niguel in a tournament on Tuesday.
