Winslow and Snowflake are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will take on the Lobos at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
Winslow is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Show Low just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since April 15, 2024.
Meanwhile, Snowflake entered their tilt with Holbrook on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Roadrunners 12-1. Considering the Lobos have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kashlynn Cantrell spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Taya Schneider was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brittyn Butler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Snowflake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.
Snowflake's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Winslow, their loss dropped their record down to 17-12.
Everything went Winslow's way against Snowflake in their previous matchup on April 8th, as Winslow made off with an 8-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
