Soccer Game Preview: Lakewood vs. Blaine

For the first time this season, Lakewood will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will be defending their home pitch for the first time this season when they go up against the Blaine Borderites at 7:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lakewood faced off against Lynden on Tuesday. Lakewood lost 4-0 to Lynden. The Cougars have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, Blaine unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Oak Harbor by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday.

Lakewood might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Blaine in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Lakewood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
