Volleyball Game Preview: Brewster Bears vs. Haldane Blue Devils

The Brewster Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Haldane Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Brewster is looking for their season's first win.

On Monday, Brewster came up short against Ardsley and fell 3-1. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-20 in the first set.

Brewster started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Haldane beat Woodlands 3-1 on Friday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

While Haldane might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Woodlands scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 25-20.

Brewster better keep an eye on Savannah Duggan. She was instrumental in Haldane's win, getting 17 digs.

Haldane's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Brewster, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Brewster took their victory against Haldane in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
