Basketball Game Preview: Spring Valley Vikings vs. Sumter Gamecocks

Spring Valley and Sumter are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Spring Valley Vikings will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Sumter Gamecocks at 8:00 p.m.

Sumter is facing Spring Valley at the wrong time: Spring Valley suffered their first home loss of the season last Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a 54-36 bruising from the Silver Foxes. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Silver Foxes are ranked 30th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sumter). They walked away with a 74-67 win over Powdersville on Saturday.

Sumter's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Spring Valley, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5.
