Baseball Recap: Russell County Comes Up Short

Russell County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Bowling Green on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-3 to the Purples. If the Lakers were looking for revenge after losing 7-6 to the Purples when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

This is the second loss in a row for Russell County and nudges their season record down to 18-11. As for Bowling Green, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russell County will challenge Frederick Douglass at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bowling Green, they will square off against Warren East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
