Basketball Recap: Eastlake Takes a Loss

Eastlake lost against Montgomery back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Eastlake Titans were outmatched by the Montgomery Aztecs and fell 89-27. The matchup marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montgomery to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alek Sanchez, who went 5 of 8 en route to 15 points in addition to eight assists and seven steals. The dominant performance also gave Sanchez a new career-high in blocks (four). JJ Sanchez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine assists.

Eastlake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home.

Eastlake will take on Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastlake is facing Victory Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Victory Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Montgomery, they will challenge Olympian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Montgomery's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
