Basketball Game Preview: Erath Bobcats vs. Hanson Memorial Tigers

Erath and Hanson Memorial are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Erath Bobcats face off against the Hanson Memorial Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Erath came up short against Ascension Episcopal on Friday, falling 62-38. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Ascension Episcopal are ranked 106th).

While Hanson Memorial didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over Delcambre on Friday.

Erath's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Hanson Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Erath was able to grind out a solid victory over Hanson Memorial when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 50-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Erath since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
