Baseball Recap: Dixie Heights Extends Winning Streak to Three

Dixie Heights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts by a score of 8-3. That's more bragging rights for the Colonels, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Owen Stulz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Steczynski, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Austin Krohmer also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Dixie Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lloyd Memorial only posted a batting average of .241.

Dixie Heights pushed their record up to 12-13-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Lloyd Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
