Football Preview: Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns vs. Stafford Spartans

The Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns will venture away from home to square off against the Stafford Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hamshire-Fannett knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Stafford likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Hamshire-Fannett on the road against Almeta Crawford as the team secured a 50-13 victory. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Chargers are ranked 887th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chris Augustine continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 160 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Reed, who rushed for 60 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stafford). They came out on top against Calhoun by a score of 20-13 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Hamshire-Fannett's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Stafford, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
