Basketball Recap: Avon Takes a Loss

Avon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Holbrook Bulldogs 54-13. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-4.

When it comes to explaining why Avon lost, don't look at Uwa Idada. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 rebounds and 13 blocks. Idada is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played.

Ashya Dingle continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Holbrook, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Hopkins, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Holbrook, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Avon will square off against Atlantis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Holbrook, they will face off against Westport at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
