Baseball Game Preview: Classical Academy Caimans vs. Eastlake Titans

The Classical Academy Caimans will venture away from home to challenge the Eastlake Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Classical Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Ridgeview. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Caimans this season.

Aidan Suitor was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Suitor was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Classical Academy let Vaughn Rink and Westin Michals run wild. Rink went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs, while Michals scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Michals a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Correll, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Classical Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Eastlake was able to grind out a solid victory over Helix on Monday, taking the game 8-3. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by exactly five runs.

Nick Romero tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those hits were his first of the season.

At the plate, Eastlake got a big performance out of Angel Laya, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. JP Conero was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Classical Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Eastlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6-1.
