Basketball Recap: Manning Comes Up Short

Manning lost against Crestwood last Wednesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Monarchs took a 63-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Knights are ranked 26th).

Despite the loss, Manning still got an impressive performance from Lovell Stevenson, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Stevenson has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Daniel Robinson was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Manning has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Crestwood, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Coincidentally, Manning and Crestwood will both be playing Scott's Branch the next time they take the court. The Monarchs will host the Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Knights will head out to face them at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
