Softball Recap: Dunkirk Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gowanda, Dunkirk was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Maple Grove Red Dragons. The victory continues a trend for the Marauders in their matchups with the Red Dragons: they've now won five in a row.

Gabriella Grann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Ryleigh Donato was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Eliza Bautista was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

The win got Dunkirk back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunkirk will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on April 14. As for Maple Grove, they will square off against Jamestown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
