Basketball Game Preview: Peyton Panthers vs. Calhan Bulldogs

Peyton has gone 8-2 against Calhan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Peyton Panthers will be playing at home against the Calhan Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Peyton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Thomas MacLaren School 81-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Highlanders since January 11, 2019.

Peyton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Perry, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten assists. With that strong performance, Perry is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriel Gatti, who went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points.

Perry wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Peyton was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Calhan lost to Byers at home by a 77-59 margin on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for Calhan in their matchups with Byers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Peyton pushed their record up to 6-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Calhan, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Peyton against Calhan when the teams last played back in February of 2022, as the squad secured a 71-24 victory. In that matchup, Peyton amassed a halftime lead of 42-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
