Basketball Recap: Cross Takes a Loss

Cross lost against Hilton Head Christian Academy back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Stingrays took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. While the Stingrays didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 15-3 in the first quarter.

Jake Wood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hilton Head Christian Academy, dropping a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Wood a new career-high. Davis Taylor was another key player, putting up five points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Cross and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Cross will take on Savannah Classical Academy in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bluffton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 60.8 points per game this season.
