Football Recap: Ruston Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Alexandria

Ruston faced Alexandria in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bearcats received a blow as they fell 45-28 to the Trojans. That makes it the first time this season the Bearcats have let down their home crowd.

Alexandria found their leader in sophomore Kason Williams, who rushed for 219 yards, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one score. Those 219 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Williams. Another player making a difference was Karsen Sellers, who threw for 113 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.

Ruston's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Alexandria, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
