 The matchup between Arroyo Grande and St. Joseph  on Wednesday hardly resembled the  3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Arroyo Grande Eagles fell just short of the St. Joseph Knights by a score of  13-12. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
  Tane Kurth was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 3-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and a  triple.  Mason Clark was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 On St. Joseph's side,  Jayson Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where he played. He  pitched 1.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits (he also only allowed one  walk). Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 In other pitching news,  Hunter Hammond looked comfortable as he  struck out eight batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   eight  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 Back at the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Erik Furness, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Jack Ferguson, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
 Arroyo Grande's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for St. Joseph, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with that  win, which was their fifth straight  on the road.
 Arroyo Grande will  challenge Righetti at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. Righetti's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7  runs per game  this season, so Arroyo Grande's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Joseph, they will be playing at home against Atascadero at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The last three games St. Joseph has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
