Basketball Recap: Chatham Homeschool Starts Season with Win Against Grovemont

Chatham HomeSchool took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Grovemont Spartans by a score of 66-53. The win was nothing new for the Thunder as they're now sitting on four straight dating back to last season.

Leading Chatham HomeSchool to victory were Luke Coletta and Tyler Mitchell. Coletta shot 53% from the field to rack up 24 points along with six steals and five assists, while Mitchell went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Coletta is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Eli Cunningham was another key player, shooting 63% from the field en route to 9 points and three blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Grovemont lost, don't look at Oliver Kilani. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Nohs, who earned seven points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Chatham HomeSchool is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against South Guilford HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Grovemont, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Heritage Leadership Academy at 5:15 p.m. on November 11.
