Softball Game Preview: Royal Knights vs. Wapato Wolves

The Royal Knights will challenge the Wapato Wolves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Royal will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Royal took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Othello, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Royal sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Othello on Tuesday. The three-run effort marked the Knights' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Jill Allred made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Wapato earned a 7-3 victory over Toppenish on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Royal's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wapato, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
