Recap: Lincoln-Way Central Knights vs. Batavia Bulldogs

The Lincoln-Way Central Knights and the Batavia Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Lincoln-Way Central Knights had to settle for second. Lincoln-Way Central had to suffer through a rough 45-17 loss at the hands of Batavia. Lincoln-Way Central's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Michael Kuehl threw for 155 yards on 11 of 22 attempts. Braden Meyer was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards. On the ground, Anthony Noto rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Batavia was led to victory by Charlie Whelpley and Ryan Boe. Whelpley rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while Boe threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns. Boe has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Cj Valente did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Batavia's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Ben Brown was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself.

Lincoln-Way Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Batavia, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Lincoln-Way Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Batavia will head out on the road to face off against Hononegah at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hononegah is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
