After flying high against the Northside Eagles on Friday, the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets came back down to earth. Thomas County Central has struggled against Houston County recently, as their match on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Thomas County Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abe Smith, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Colby Mullinax, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Leading Houston County to victory were Kameron Plummer and Malik Gillespie. Plummer scored 16 points, while Gillespie scored 22 points. Devan Robinson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Thomas County Central's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Houston County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-10.
