Soccer Game Preview: Ponaganset vs. Woonsocket

Ponaganset and Woonsocket are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2017, but likely not for long. The Chieftains will head out on the road to challenge the Villa Novans at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Ponaganset's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Ponaganset is headed into Friday's matchup following a draw, the team's first since September 11. Neither they nor Prout could gain the upper hand on Thursday so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Woonsocket was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 5-1 to Mt. Hope. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Woonsocket couldn't quite close it out.

Woonsocket's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. Ponaganset's draw makes their record 6-8-2 this season.

Everything went Ponaganset's way against Woonsocket when the teams last played back in September, as Ponaganset made off with a 5-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
