Soccer Game Preview: Elk Grove vs. Galt

The Elk Grove Thundering Herd will square off against the Galt Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elk Grove is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, Elk Grove came up short against Central Valley and fell 4-2. While losing is never fun, the Thundering Herd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Hawks are ranked 54th).

Meanwhile, Galt kept a clean sheet against Turlock on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Hayden Miller and Jaylen Mendez scored both of Galt's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Galt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Elk Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4-1.

Elk Grove suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Galt in their previous meeting back in November of 2021. Can Elk Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
