Basketball Recap: Arrowhead Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Arrowhead is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Nazareth Academy. The Arrowhead Warhawks took a 74-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nazareth Academy Roadrunners. It was the first time this season that the Warhawks let down their fans at home.

When it comes to explaining why Arrowhead lost, don't look at Natalie Kussow. Despite the final result, she went 13 for 22 on her way to 33 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Kussow has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Presly Samz, who posted nine points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Arrowhead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Arrowhead's defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-3. As for Nazareth Academy, their victory was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arrowhead will face off against Kettle Moraine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nazareth Academy, they will take on Benet Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Benet Academy will roll in looking for their 23rd straight win, something Nazareth Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
