Basketball Game Preview: Flowing Wells Caballeros vs. Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks

Flowing Wells is 2-7 against Ironwood Ridge since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Isaias Encinas and Carter Brown.

Flowing Wells is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were outmatched by Casa Grande and fell 73-26. The Caballeros were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-13.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ironwood Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 65-58 victory over Marana on Friday.

Flowing Wells better focus on containing Brown and Lucas Anderson as the pair were huge in Ironwood Ridge's win. Brown posted 21 points, while Anderson earned 18 points. The game was Brown's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Ray, who had seven points.

Ironwood Ridge's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Flowing Wells, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Flowing Wells might still be hurting after the 60-35 loss they got from Ironwood Ridge when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Flowing Wells avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
