Last Friday, Norwell greeted the New Year with with a 58-41 win over East Bridgewater. The win made it back-to-back wins for Norwell.

Meanwhile, Carver entered their tilt with Mashpee with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Carver simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Mashpee 71-43 at home. Carver's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Carver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josie Helms, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Helms is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Jadyn Sotomayor was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Norwell pushed their record up to 2-0 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Carver, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Norwell took their victory against Carver when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 64-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norwell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
