Basketball Recap: Emmanuel Christian's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Emmanuel Christian's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past the Christ the Cornerstone Academy Defenders with a 25-19 victory. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 269th in South Carolina, while the Defenders are ranked 574th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Emmanuel Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Hoffman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Hoffman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games she's played. Maddie Oliver was another key player, putting up four points along with 19 boards and three steals.

Emmanuel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

The victory snapped Emmanuel Christian's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-9 record. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
