Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Legacy Christian Academy Lions vs. Wright City Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Gateway Legacy Christian Academy Lions face off against Wright City Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Gateway Legacy Christian Academy will be strutting in after a win while Wright City will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, Gateway Legacy Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Parkway West, taking the game 8-4.

Simon Ruiz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Ruiz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. He also put up a run, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Juan Telles, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those stolen bases were his first of the season. Daniel Mendoza was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Wright City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to Hannibal. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Wildcats, who fell 10-8 when the teams last met back in March of 2024.

Gateway Legacy Christian Academy's record now sits at 3-5. As for Wright City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
