Softball Recap: Edgar Comes Up Short

If Edgar was riding high fresh off their 8-0 takedown of Phillips on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tomahawk Hatchets by a score of 12-11 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 6-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Emery Borchardt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Hartway, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Edgar has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Tomahawk, their record is now 6-10.

Looking ahead, Edgar will face off against Auburndale at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Apaches' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tomahawk, they will challenge Pacelli at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
