Baseball Game Preview: Heartland Christian Lions vs. United Golden Eagles

The Heartland Christian Lions will head out to square off against the United Golden Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. United took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Heartland Christian, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Heartland Christian turned things around against David Anderson last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Blue Devils. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Christian Hamilton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Morgan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Paul Bender, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for United's offense. They came up short against Marlington on Friday, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Golden Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Heartland Christian's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for United, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
