Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Loyola College Prep's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Loyola College Prep hadn't done well against Minden recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Loyola College Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Minden. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 last Tuesday.

Gavin Brint spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Loyola College Prep's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was John Luke Lauve, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Loyola College Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Minden and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Looking ahead, Loyola College Prep will square off against Converse at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Minden, they will head out on the road to square off against North DeSoto at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
