The Scotts Valley Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
San Lorenzo Valley will be up against a hot Scotts Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. The Falcons blew past Santa Cruz 17-6 on Thursday. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Sofie Seese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Taylor Wilson was incredible, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jazzy Doubek was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Scotts Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Cruz only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, San Lorenzo Valley entered their tilt with Harbor on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 16-6 victory.
Scotts Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-5-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for San Lorenzo Valley, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Scotts Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against San Lorenzo Valley in their previous matchup last Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
