Basketball Game Preview: Marion Wildcats vs. Mt. Vernon Rams

Marion is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Richland County 61-36. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon didn't have too much trouble with Carbondale on Wednesday as they won 53-36. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th in Illinois, while the Terriers are ranked 279th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marion's victory bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Mt. Vernon, their win bumped their record up to 17-10.

Marion came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Vernon when the teams last played on Friday, sneaking past 39-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marion since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
