Basketball Recap: Cape Fear Academy Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Cape Fear Academy won against Arendell Parrott Academy last Tuesday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes took down the John Paul II Catholic Saints 49-31. That's more bragging rights for the Hurricanes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Isaiah Gibson was a one-man wrecking crew for Cape Fear Academy as he went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Domas Undzenas, who posted eight points.

Cape Fear Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, John Paul II Catholic still got an impressive performance from Jamal Biggs, who earned 16 points.

Cape Fear Academy pushed their record up to 11-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 9.36 offensive boards in those games compared to only 9.36 in the others. As for John Paul II Catholic, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-5 record.
