Emerald Ridge dropped their record down to 12-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Sumner Spartans, falling 9-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Jaguars have suffered since March 12th.

As for Sumner, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

For Sumner's part, Wyatt Plyler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Xander Cypher was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Drew Wicklander also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emerald Ridge will take on Olympia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
