Soccer Game Preview: Somerset vs. Davenport

The Somerset Bulldogs and the Davenport Wolves will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Davenport took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Somerset, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, it was close, but Somerset sidestepped Cole for a 2-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Davenport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 7-2 to Steele. While losing is never fun, Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Knights are ranked 25th).

Davenport's loss dropped their record down to 0-5-1. As for Somerset, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Somerset might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Davenport in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Somerset avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
