Baseball Recap: Oxford Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Oxford won the last time they faced Lake Orion and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wildcats won by a run and slipped past the Dragons 2-1. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.

Eli Carpenter tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Oxford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey George, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Oxford has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Orion, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.

Oxford will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dragons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
