Preview: Jasper Wildcats vs. Castle Knights
Jasper is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Castle is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Jasper Wildcats will take on the Castle Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Jasper strolled past Evansville Mater Dei with points to spare, taking the game 53-35.
Meanwhile, even though Gibson Southern scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Castle still came out on top. Castle managed a 59-55 win over Gibson Southern. Given Castle's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Gibson Southern is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Castle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ayden Mcatee led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Adler Mcatee was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Jasper has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Castle, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Things could have been worse for Jasper, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-42 loss to Castle in their previous meeting back in February of 2023.
