The Gwynn Park Yellowjackets will take on the Surrattsville Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Gwynn Park stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 80-12 win over Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South. With Gwynn Park ahead 49-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Gwynn Park found their leader in underclassman Geornae Davis, who scored 24 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Destinee Ellis, who scored four points along with seven assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Surrattsville strolled past Douglass with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 55-41.
Surrattsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nadia Simpson out in front who scored 21 points. Simpson has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Wormley, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Gwynn Park is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Surrattsville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
