Basketball Recap: Rocky Hill Falls to Southington in First Game of Season

Rocky Hill unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 55-48 to the Southington Blue Knights on Friday. The Terriers have struggled against the Blue Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lily Cooper, who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Mathews, who made all 5 shots she took for 10 points and seven rebounds.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky Hill will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Middletown at 5:15 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Southington will take on South Windsor in a holiday battle at at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
