Basketball Recap: Forestview Takes a Loss

After flying high against Kings Mountain last Wednesday, Forestview came back down to earth. The Forestview Jaguars were beaten by the Stuart W. Cramer Storm 79-45 on Friday. The Jaguars have struggled against the Storm recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Forestview still got an impressive performance from Sa'Ryah McCorkle, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. McCorkle has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Forgan, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Forestview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Oshauna Holland was her usual excellent self, going 15-for-31 on her way to 36 points along with eight boards and seven assists for Stuart W. Cramer. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Holland has scored at least a third of Stuart W. Cramer's points. Hadley Womack was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points.

Forestview's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Stuart W. Cramer, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 22-2.

Forestview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stuart W. Cramer, they will be playing at home against Ashbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Stuart W. Cramer has won 17 straight at home dating back to last season, while Ashbrook won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
