The Falls Lake Firebirds will take on the Pamlico County Hurricanes on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Falls Lake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Wake Prep Academy by a score of 5-1.

Wynterlee Glenn made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Falls Lake let Cora Cates and Kayla Cash run wild. Cates went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Cash got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Cash has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jolie Sensenig, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Pamlico County never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Hobgood Charter.
Not much got past Avery Cain, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Hobgood Charter off the board.
At the plate, Kylee Morris was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Shamblin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Falls Lake's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Pamlico County, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Falls Lake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Pamlico County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits.
