Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Spring Valley can now relate to. They fell just short of the West Ashley Wildcats by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 9-4.

Jayden Williams put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Williams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He has become a key player for Spring Valley: the team is 8-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-12 otherwise.

Spring Valley moved to 11-15 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for West Ashley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-17 record this season.

While Spring Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
