Baseball Recap: Buffalo Grove Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Buffalo Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Rolling Meadows Mustangs by a score of 6-2 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bison as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Griffin Kelly made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Buffalo Grove is 2-0-1 when Kelly posts ten or more strikeouts, but 3-11-1 otherwise. Kelly was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Conor Fitzsimmons looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Kelly wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Erickson, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Buffalo Grove lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Buffalo Grove's record is now 5-11-2. As for Rolling Meadows, their record now sits at 14-4.

Coming up, Rolling Meadows will challenge Elgin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buffalo Grove will be paying especially close attention to the Mustangs' game: after the Mustangs face off against the Maroons, they'll take on Buffalo Grove again at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
