Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots vs. Piedmont Highlanders

St. Joseph Notre Dame is 1-8 against Piedmont since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots will venture away from home to take on the Piedmont Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

St. Joseph Notre Dame is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since December 29, 2023 on Monday. They fell just short of Bellarmine College Prep by a score of 62-59. While losing is never fun, the Pilots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Bells are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Piedmont lost to Campolindo at home by a 67-52 margin last Saturday. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

St. Joseph Notre Dame came up short against Piedmont when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 67-55. Can St. Joseph Notre Dame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
