            Softball Preview: Northeastern Knights vs. Richmond Red Devils        
        
		
        
        
            Northeastern and Richmond are an even 4-4 against one another  since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Knights will head out on the road to  challenge  the Red Devils  at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. Northeastern is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9  runs per game  this season.
Northeastern barely beat Union County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights were the clear victors by  a  12-2 margin over the Patriots on Wednesday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive  win against them.

The team  relied heavily on  Alexis Russell, who  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, three  runs,  and one  stolen base. Those  three  hits gave  her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Macey Oler, who  went a perfect 2-for-2 with two  stolen bases, three  runs,  and two  doubles.
 Northeastern  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union County only posted  an  OBP of  .238.
 Meanwhile, Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight  loss  dating back to last season. They came up short against  Daleville, falling  13-3.
 Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Northeastern, they now  have a winning record of 4-3.
 Everything went Northeastern's way against Richmond in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024, as Northeastern made off with  a  10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
